Dashboard Warning Lights Signals

It's happened to most of us before. We're driving to work, school, to the grocery store, or to a friend's house, and we see a weird light pop up on the dashboard. The symbol might look familiar, but what on earth does it mean? If you've found yourself confused or anxious about the dashboard warning lights' meanings on your Mazda vehicle, we're here to put those anxieties to rest with an explanation of every single light you're likely to see on your Mazda vehicle.

Dashboard Warning Lights' Meanings: Decoded

Some of the lights you'll see are not cause for alarm. There is a simple color-coding system that is utilized to illustrate the severity of the issue that the light is indicating. These are WHITE, RED, YELLOW, GREEN, and BLUE.

GREEN, BLUE, and WHITE lights are no cause for alarm. These are simply informational lights that let you know that a system is operating, like when your bright lights are on, it is indicated by a BLUE light. The only other BLUE light is there to inform you that your coolant temperature is low, but it will slowly heat up as the engine is running.

As with stoplights, a YELLOW light indicates caution. It means you should check the appropriate system when you stop your car to fix an issue or ensure everything is working appropriately.

As with most things that are color-coded with this color, a RED Mazda dashboard light indicates extreme caution, and it is advised that, if you're driving, you pull over and stop the car immediately. You can call our Mazda service center to discuss the issue and request a tow, if need be.
